SEEDS FOR GIVING

The focus for this page is finding ways to give of yourself through your writing ability. Articles are welcome
Here are some ways to donate your time, money, and supplies. Be sure to investigate each organization. You can find tips at the first two websites. Please help.

Quiet Love Foundationcommunicates Christ's love through American Sign Language to the hearing impaired and the hearing. The group uses white face under black light for awesome drama effects and music.

MAP "Mission to the Amish": Displaced Amish or those who have been shunned have no driver's license, social security card to enable them to find employment. They often need housing, food and clothing while learning new life-skills. Pastor Joe Keim established this ministry now active in many states and overseas as well. See attached pages for statement and current needs. MAP and Ministry Needs

PEACE Parents Educating Arkansas About Epilepsy A free support group for parents and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.OUR MISSION …is to coordinate education and reach out to the people of Arkansas about children who have epilepsy and other forms of seizure disorders.
If you or someone you know has been dealing with the daily reality of epilepsy then consider donating to P E A C E. We are a local nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing free resources to families just like yours. P E A C E hosts a free support group serving Central and NW Arkansas. For $25.00 you can have you and/or your loved one’s name (Limit 4) added to our web site as a Lily for the entire month of April.

"Say Educate" suggests ways to know who to donate through, and why.

The BBB also gives advice about who to trust, how to give.

"Samaritan's Purse"
"It was difficult to get our chartered plane into the airport because of the chaos below. We eventually were able to descend through the dust enshrouding the city. The runway was the only operational piece of the airport. There was no customs, immigration, or personnel on the tarmac. It was like landing in an abandoned airfield."

Many arguments have stemmed from the what the scriptures say concerning how we give and how much we give to God. References agree that we cannot out-give God. What do we owe God? Can we measure up to the gifts He’s given us? Never, can we give back the life He has sacrificed for our redemption. Yet, he asks in the old testament that His people give a ‘sweet smelling’ sacrifice unto the Lord, so that they were living a life pleasing and worshipful to the Lord. Now that the ultimate sacrifice has been made through Christ Jesus, we do not need to spill blood in such a manner. But as the New Testament unfolds, we see that God’s first commandment is that we love one another; we can then be compassionate and charitable, and provide for those in need. Christ Jesus’ expectation now is for a closer relationship to Him, not because of any need he has for our gifts. (Psalm 50, Acts 17:24-28).

"World Vision"
"We would be very concerned about a quake of this magnitude anywhere in the world, but it is especially devastating in Haiti, where people are acutely vulnerable because of poor infrastructure and extreme poverty," said Edward Brown, World Vision's relief director in the United States.

"Global Giving"
How to give to the givers: "CHF has been giving supplies to rescue workers such as gloves, face masks, pick axes, shovels and sledge hammers; and we will be providing logistical support in the form of vehicles and drivers."

"Red Cross"
"Red Cross worker Winnie Romeril noticed recently that a lot of Haitians on the street were carrying our Red Cross eton emergency crank radios. These radios, which were being handed out by a local radio station, can by powered by cranking a handle that stores energy in a battery. Some of the models out there can even store solar power."

"Clean Water"
"Clean Water for Haiti (CWH) is a volunteer run, faith based missions and humanitarian aid organization started in 2001. As a registered non-profit organization in Canada and the US, CWH works to provide sustainable solutions to the water crisis in Haiti."

Consider how you can help the individual volunteer or short term ministry in your community who will need supplies for their journey and for their stay. Off duty law enforcers, firemen and servicemen have all volunteered.

(Compiled)
How can we encourage our children to give willingly and to save a tithe for God's use? 1) Setting the example is always the best means of teaching. If you set aside the pre-determined amount for tithing for them and show them that it can be done, they won't miss it. At the appropriate time, you can re-introduce the amount with the expectation that they will take the incentive. Talk to your children about charitable organizations and ask their opinions. Children's causes and situations from other cultures will peak their interest most. Allow them the opportunity to make a decision to give a portion of their allowance, but help them research the organization for it's validity. Help them to also establish a savings plan in which they will divide up their allowance to allow for giving. 2) Welcome their opinion.  3) Research charities for the best 'administration to delivery' ratio, and appropriateness for children's involvement. 4) Involve your children in giving time to projects or fund raising.
